proudly caring for VETERANs
Clinical massage therapy is one of the evidence-based, complementary and integrative health (CIH) approaches within the VHA Whole Health System of care covered by the Veterans medical benefits package when deemed clinically necessary by their care team per VA Directive 1137 — Provision of Complementary and Integrative Health (recertified December 2022). Several studies quantify the positive effects of massage on veterans: specifically, one study published in Military Medicine magazine, highlights the following positive results:
Improvement in physical pain
Anxiety and irritability reduction.
Depression and PTSD improvement.
Veterans may be eligible for medical massage through a provider. Depending on their health care needs or circumstances, insurance, and if they meet specific eligibility criteria. Veterans must receive approval from the VA before receiving care from a community provider to avoid being billed for the care. Eligibility being determined by community care, and authorization approved by TRIWEST HEALTHCARE.
ANJERA ONSEN SPA is an approved and accredited community provider with the VA Community Care Network.
